9/11 M-Hill "Stair" Climb

Opening Ceremony: 830 a.m. 

Location: Founders Park, Rapid City, South Dakota

The M‑Hill Stair Climb is a symbolic tribute to the courage of firefighters and first responders on September 11, 2001. Each step represents the determination and sacrifice of those who climbed the Twin Towers, and each participant carries that legacy forward.

Event Highlights

  • Volunteer Fire Department Representation Firefighters from across the Black Hills and surrounding communities will stand shoulder‑to‑shoulder, showing unity and support.

  • Gauntlet of Fire Trucks A powerful visual: fire trucks lined up along the route, creating a path of honor for participants.

  • Safety & Support Stations Rest areas and medical stations will be positioned throughout the climb to ensure participant safety and comfort.

  • Ceremony & Tradition

    • Guest Speakers sharing words of remembrance and inspiration.

    • National Anthem performed by a local artist, adding heartfelt community pride.

    • Presentation of Colors, setting a solemn and respectful tone.

  • Community Participation Families, veterans, airmen, police,  and firefighters join together,  this more than a climb, it’s a living memorial.

9/11 Golf Tournament

The Golf Classic is a spirited tournament that combines friendly competition with heartfelt remembrance. Held at Meadowbrook Golf Course in Rapid City, this event brings together golfers of all skill levels to honor the heroes of 9/11 while raising funds for local associations and the Children’s Hospital Colorado Burn Center.
